President Barack Obama addressed the topic of poverty and opportunity during an event cosponsored by the National Association of Evangelicals and the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life at Georgetown University on May 12.

The panel, which included Harvard public policy professor Robert Putnam and Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, was part of the three-day Catholic-Evangelical Summit on Overcoming Poverty.

Leaders from evangelical, Catholic and broader religious communities, key policy makers, researchers and community organizers attended the summit.
